Transilvania honors for HEARTSTONE and THE TOGETHER PROJECT
Two Icelandic films – Heartstone and The Together Project – won awards at the Transilvania International Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, this past weekend.
Writer/director Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson won the Best Directing Award for Heartstone, which is his debut feature. The film also received the festival's Audience Award. Gudmundsson was in attendance and accepted the two awards in person. Heartstone premiered at the Venice Film Festival last August and has since gone on two win more than 30 awards.
The Together Project, a French/Icelandic coproduction, and the last feature from the late writer/director Sólveig Anspach, won the Young Francophone Jury Prize. The Together Project premiered in the Directors' Fortnight sidebar at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016, where it won the SACD Prize.
