Noomi Rapace to star in an Icelandic supernatural drama LAMB

According to Variety, the Swedish actress Noomi Rapace will star in the Icelandic feature film Lamb directed by Valdimar Jóhannsson. The film is written by Jóhannson and the Icelandic author Sjón, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his lyrics in Lars von Trier's Dancer in the Dark

Lamb tells the story of Maria (Rapace) and Ingvar, a childless couple of Icelandic sheep farmers in the early forties, and how an unexpected change in their circumstances brings them much joy before ultimately destroying them.

“A script like this is rare and I directly felt that I had to do it. I've never done anything like this before and I can't wait to start filming and go back to my roots in Iceland,” Rapace said in an interview with Variety.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in May 2019 and the film is produced by Hrönn Kristinsdóttir and Sara Nassim at Go to Sheep.

International sales for the film are being handled by New Europe Film Sales.
