SKJALDBORG 2009
Skjaldborg – Icelandic Documentary Festival 2009 – will take place in Patrekjsford, Iceland, May 29th – June 1st. The festival premières new Icelandic documentaries and also serves as a platform for discussion and a meeting point for filmmakers. At the end of the festival audiences choose the best film at Skjaldborg 2009.
At last year’s festival over 30 Icelandic documentaries were shown with great success among guests and critics. But at the same time when documentary filmmaking is flourishing in Iceland it tends to be quite difficult to get projects shown at cinemas and on television. Skjaldborg focuses on films that would otherwise never reach general audiences and when it comes to documentaries it is a festival that respects the small, the grand, the strange and the cheap alike. We program shorts and features as well with versatile subjects and approaches.
