PRODUCTION DESIGNER KARL JÚLÍUSSON ON THE RISE
Although Mr. Júlíusson was not awarded at the Oscar’s, he already received major acknowledgement for The Hurt Locker when handed the prestigious Art Directors Guild awards for Excellence in Production Design. Moreover, Mr. Júlíusson received a special mention in director’s Kathryn Bigelow’s acceptance speech at the Oscar ceremony. The Hurt Locker is the third collaboration between Karl Júlíusson and Katrhyn Bigalow, but they previously worked together on The Weight of Water and K19: The Widow Maker. This is also the third time Karl Júlíusson is involved in an Oscar-nominated feature, the other two being Breaking the Waves and Dancer in the Dark by another one of Mr. Júlíusson's frequent collaborator, Lars Von Trier. Karl Júlíusson is currently working on the movie Waterbug, starring Josh Brolin.
