The co-production forum WEMW, When East Meets West 2012, will take place in Trieste in Italy on the 19th and 20th of January 2012 within the frame of the Trieste Film Festival. Of the 182 applications received from 29 European countries, the WEMW has announced the selection of 18 projects for public pitching.

Among them is the Icelandic film The Horsemen from Spellbound Productions.

The Horsemen will be directed by Benedikt Erlingsson and produced by Fridrik Thor Fridriksson and Gudrun Edda Thorhannesdottir.

The WEMW forum includes round table and panel discussions, case studies and one-to-one meetings. All selected participants will have the chance to pitch their project in front of a large panel of decision makers in the European film industry coming from Eastern Europe, Italy and the Nordic countries and will compete in the Trieste arena to win the prestigious EAVE European Producers Workshop Award.

Due to the large number of applications received and their high quality, the upcoming edition of WHEN EAST MEETS WEST will launch two new categories. Along with the final line-up of 18 projects, 20 feature films and documentary projects will be presented in the categories of warm-up & follow -up selections.

The Icelandic film, ASH from Spier Films and Edisons Moving Pictures participates in the category of promising projects in an early stage of development. ASH is directed by Herbert Sveinbjörnsson and produced by Gunnar Sigurdsson og Heather Millard.
