Five Icelandic films have been selected to participate in the Nordic Competition, NIFA, for the best, new Nordic short film at the Minimalen Short Film Festival, taking place on the 14th to 18th of March 2012 in Trondheim, Norway.

The selected films are: Baby Bird, Unborn by Katrín Ólafsdóttir, Revolution Reykjavik by Ísold Uggadóttir, Santa‘s Little Helper by Ragnar Snorrason, Small Things by Davíd Óskar Ólafsson and Yes Yes by María Reyndal.

The Icelandic director Rúnar Rúnarsson will be on an international jury of three who will award four prizes; for the best short film, best documentary, best fiction and best animation or art film. Rúnarsson will also take part in a Masterclass where he will show his two documentary films, The Last Farm and Birds.

Minimalen is an annual, independent short film event, being held since 1988. Around 200 films will be screened, roughly devided into three sections: Nordic, Norwegian and international short films.
