Skjaldborg - Icelandic Documentary Film Festival postponed until 2022

Skjaldborg - Icelandic Documentary Film Festival has been postponed until 2022 due to the ongoing pandemic. The festival will take place on Whitsun weekend, from June 3 - 6, 2022, in its original form in the town of Patreksfjordur in the Westfjords.   

The 2020 festival program will be screened at Skjaldborg cinema in Patreksfjörður from May 14 - 16, 2021. The Eyrarrósin Award 2021 will be awarded on that occasion and will be handed out by The First Lady of Iceland, Mrs Eliza Reid. Eyrarrósin is awarded to an outstanding cultural project in the rural areas of Iceland and has been running since 2005. In 2020 it was awarded to Skjaldborg.

Skjaldborg presents new Icelandic documentary films, and also functions as a meeting point for documentarians and documentary enthusiasts. The first Skjaldborg festival was held in in 2007. The Icelandic documentaries premiering at the festival compete for the the coveted audience award Einarinn and Ljoskastarinn, the grand jury award.
