Winter Brothers wins Best Film at Molodist and Best Director at Transilvania

Winter Brothers, writer/director Hlynur Pálmason‘s Danish/Icelandic debut feature, continues its winning streak with a Best Film award at Molodist – Kyiv International Film Festival in Ukraine and a Best Director award at the Transilvania International Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Winter Brothers has now won a total of 18 international awards since having its world premiere at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland last August, where four of the awards were won.

The film has also won a total of 11 awards in Denmark, with nine coming at the Robert Awards and two at the Bodil Awards. Hlynur Pálmason also won the Dreyer Award.

Winter Brothers is a brother odyssey set in a workers' environment during a cold winter. We follow two brothers - their routines, habits and rituals - and a violent feud that erupts between them and another family.

Next up for Pálmason is his next feature, A White, White Day, which is scheduled to shoot in August of this year.

The project won the ARTE Award at CineMart, Rotterdam Film Festival's coproduction market, was selected for Nordic Film & TV Fund‘s workshop Nordic Distribution Boost and was one out of only two projects selected for the Rotterdam-Berlinale Express which took place during the coproduction market of the Berlin International Film Festival.
