WINTER BROTHERS wins nine Robert awards – won for Best Picture and Best Director

Winter Brothers, writer/director Hlynur Pálmason‘s Danish/Icelandic debut feature, won a total of nine awards at the Robert Awards, including for Best Picture and Pálmason for Best Director. The Robert Awards are the Danish Film Academy‘s annual award ceremony. Winter Brothers‘ nine awards was this year‘s highest tally at the ceremony.

In addition to the Best Picture and Best Director awards, it also scooped up awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Elliott Crosset Hove), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Victoria Carmen Sonne), Best Cinematography (Maria von Hausswolff), Best Production Design (Gustav Pontoppidan), Best Costume Design (Nina Grønlund), Best Make-Up (Katrine Tersgov) and Best Sound Design (Lars Halvorsen).

Winter Brothers recently received three nominations for the Bodil Awards, including for Best Picture and Best Actor in a Leading Role. The Bodil Awards are awarded by the Danish Film Critics Association and will take place on March 17.

The film has also won an additional 13 international awards since having its world premiere at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where it won four awards.

Pálmason is currently developing his next feature, A White, White Day, which is scheduled to shoot in August of this year. The project recently won the ARTE Award at CineMart, Rotterdam Film Festival's coproduction market. 

A White, White Day will soon travel to the coproduction market of the Berlin International Film Festival, where it's one out of only two projects selected for the Rotterdam-Berlinale Express. The coproduction market will take place from February 16-19.
