International awards for Icelandic films in 2020

A White, White Day (dir. Hlynur Pálmason)

Ingvar Sigurdsson won Best Performance award for his performance at Festival Premiers plans d'Angers in Angers, France, January 17 - 26.

Won the main award, the Talents prize for best movie, at D'A Film Festival Barcelona, Spain. The festival took place online from April 30 - May 10.

The Deposit (dir. Ásthildur Kjartansdóttir)

Andri Steinn Gudjónsson, editor of The Deposit, won the Best Editing award at the 8th Indian Cine Film Festival in Mumbai. The award ceremony took place on September 6.

Echo (dir. Rúnar Rúnarsson)

Won the Jury Prize at Golden Raven Film Festival in Anadyr, Russia, March 9 - 15.

Won a special Jury prize at Gimli Film Festival, Canada, July 22 - 26.

Thirst (dir. Gaukur Úlfarsson, Steinthór Hróar Steinthórsson)

won two awards at Screamfest Horror Film Festival. Geir Njardarson won the Best Special Effects Makeup award and Atli Thór Einarsson won the Best Visual Effects award. The festival took place from October 6 - 15 in Los Angeles, CA.

The Last Autumn (dir. Yrsa Roca Fannberg)

Received an Honourable Mention in the Best Nordic Documentary competition at the Nordic documentary and short film festival Nordisk Panorama, September 17 - 27.

Animalia (dir. Rúnar Ingi)

Received a Special Mention in the Icelandic Shorts category at  RIFF - Reykjavík International Film Festival, September 24 - October 4.

Dovetail (dir. Magnús Leifsson)

Won Best Nordic Film at Minimalen Short Film Festival in Trondheim, Norway, January 21 - 26. 

Paperboy (dir. Ninna Pálmadóttir)

Won the Shortfish at Stockfish Film Festival, Iceland, March 12 - 22

Yes-People (dir. Gísli Darri Halldórsson)

Won the Young Nordic – Children's Choice Award at the Nordic documentary and short film festival Nordisk Panorama, September 17 - 27. 

Won Best Icelandic Short at RIFF - Reykjavík International Film Festival, September 24 - October 4.

Won Best European Short Film at Weird International Animation Film Festival, Spain, September 28 - October 4

Won the Audience Award at Uppsala Short Film Festival, Sweden, October 19 - 25

Won Best Nordic-Baltic Short Film at Fredrikstad Animation Festival (FAF ), Norway, October 22 -25

Wilma (dir. Haukur Björgvinsson)

Won Special Jury Prize at Flickerfest in Sydney, Australia, January 10 - 19.

Won the Generators +16 award in the short film section at the prestige Giffoni Film Festival in Italy.
