JITTERS WINS INTERNATIONAL CONTEST IN GERMANY
Jitters by Baldvin Z won the International Youth Film Contest at exground filmfest which took place in Wiesbaden, Germany, November 11 - 20. Jitters is Baldvin's Z first feature length. VOLCANO BEATS MASSIVE COMPETITION FOR FIRST PRIZE IN DENVER

19 Icelandic films will be screened at this year’s edition of Black Nights Film Festival, which takes place in Tallinn, Estonia, November 16 – 30. The music documentary Grandma Lo-fi: The Basement Tapes of Sigrídur Níelsdóttir won the award for best international music film at CPH:DOX. The film, which is an Icelandic/Danish co-production, premiered at the CPH:DOX festival, which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, November 3 – 13.

Either Way by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson was awarded the Baltic Film Prize at the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck, Germany. Hafsteinn Gunnar thereby joins a prestigious list of previous winners – which includes Lars von Trier, Susanne Bier and Fridrik Thór Fridriksson – but the prize was handed out for the 20th time this year.
THEODÓR JÚLÍUSSON WINS THE BEST ACTOR AWARD IN SAO PAULO
Theodór Júlíússon won the best actor award at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival for his role in Volcano, by Rúnar Rúnarsson. This is the second award Theodór Júlíusson wins for his performance in Volcano, but he was previously awarded best actor at the Eurasia International Film Festival in Kazakhstan. Volcano‘s screening in Sao Paulo marks the premiere of Volcano in South – America.
VOLCANO WINS FIRST PRIZE IN VALLADOLID
Volcano by Rúnar Rúnarsson picked up yet another prize last weekend – this time at the Seminci - Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain. Volcano won the first prize in the Meeting Point category, which is dedicated to first time feature film directors.
10 ICELANDIC FILMS SCREENED AT NORDIC FILM DAYS IN LŰBECK
The 53. edition of Nordic Film Days in Lübeck will take place November 2 – 6 in Lübeck, Germany. Ten Icelandic films will be screened at the festival – 5 feature films, 4 documentaries and 1 short film.

Karl Óskarsson was awarded for best cinematography at the Czech Lion awards, which were handed out in Prague on March 6th. The prize came for his cinematography on 3 Seasons in Hell (3 sezony v pekle), which was nominated for 11 Czech Lions, of which it received three – for cinematography , acting and sound. 3 Seasons in Hell takes place in Czhecoslovakia in 1947 and a trailer from the movie can be seen here.

ICELANDER ASSOCIATED WITH BAFTA AWARD-WINNING SHORT
Icelandic musician and sound-artist Gunnlaug Thorvaldsdóttir participated in the making of the short film I-Do-Air, which recently won Best Short Film at the BAFTA awards in 2010. Gunnlaug was in charge of sound and music of the BAFTA award-winning film. The title track, I-Do-Wish, can be heard here, on Gunnlaug’s MySpace area.
NOMINATIONS FOR THE EDDA AWARDS 2010 ANNOUNCED
The Icelandic Film & Television Academy has announced its list of nominees for the 11th Edda Awards. The crew behind the highly popular TV-show The Prison Shift and its offspring movie, Mr. Bjarnfredarson, received a staggering 18 nominations, including Film of the Year and Director of the Year (Ragnar Bragason). Fridrik Thór Fridriksson's latest movie, Mamma Gógó, was nominated in eight categories, including Film of the Year and Director of the Year. The Award Ceremony will take place on the 27th of February and will be broadcasted live on Channel 2.
