Call for submissions for the Sólveig Anspach Short Film Competition now open

Alliance Française Reykjavík and the French Film Festival in Reykjavík have opened the call for submissions for the Sólveig Anspach Short Film Competition, which will take place early next year as part of the French Film Festival in Reykjavík. A jury will select short films for participation, who will go on to compete for the Sólveig Anspach Award. The application deadline is November 9.

To be eligible for participation:

· A woman is the director of the short film and if her previous films have been produced by a production company, she must not have had more than three previous films produced by production companies.

· Nationality of director: Applicant has a nationality or residency in a French speaking country or is a native Icelander or has residency in Iceland.

· Genre/themes: All genres and themes allowed.

· The short film has a maximum length of 17 minutes, including credits.

· The short film was completed after January 1, 2016.

· The short film is in French or Icelandic. English subtitles required.

· Applicants must have never won the Sólveig Anspach Award before.

The Sólveig Anspach Award is awarded in the hope to encourage woman directors to direct more films. The curators of the French Film Festival in Reykjavík decided to honor writer/director Sólveig Anspach‘s memory by naming the competition and award in her name.
