Davíd Thór Jónsson wins the Harpa Award 2019

The Icelandic musician Davíd Thór Jónsson has won the 2019 HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award, for his original score to the Benedikt Erlingsson film Woman at War, which premiered in the Critics' Week sidebar of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and won both the Nordic Council Film Prize and the European Parliament's LUX Prize. The award was handed out February 12 as part of this year's Nordic Film Music Days, which runs concurrently with the Berlinale.

Davíd Thór Jónsson is a wildly versatile and creative musical artist who has a special passion for improvisation. He has collaborated as an instrumentalist, composer, conductor, arranger, and producer with many of Iceland's foremost musicians, film directors, and visual artists. 

He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Icelandic Music Prize, the Icelandic Theatre Prize, and for his score for Benedikt Erlingsson's previous film, Of Horses and Men.
