DOVETAIL by Magnús Leifsson wins Best Nordic Film at Minimalen

Dovetail, a short film by Magnús Leifsson,  won Best Nordic Film at Minimalen Short Film Festival, which took place January 21 - 26 in Trondheim, Norway. A total of 44 films were nominated.

In the jury's reasoning it says: A work that has a novel story structure that makes its ending unpredictable. Impressively, the film manages to elicit empathy for an initially unsympathetic protagonist, delivering a conclusion with a strong emotional impact.

Dovetail won the Icelandic Edda award last year and tells the story of Aron who is in his early forties and trying his best to cope with life. In search of serenity, he imitates male stereotypes and dives into all the clichés of the material world. Under the surface, however, lies something dark and tragic.

The film is written and directed by Magnús Leifsson and is based on a poem by Halldór Laxness Halldórsson. It stars Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson and is produced by Ada Benjamínsdóttir, Árni Thór Jónsson og Lárus Jónsson for Republik Film.
