Hildur Gudnadóttir wins Grammy Award for Chernobyl

Icelandic composer Hildur Gudnadóttir won the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for the critically-acclaimed drama series Chernobyl. Gudnadóttir has already won an Emmy Award for her score to the Chernobyl series, and she won the Critics' Choice Award and the Golden Globe Award for her score to Todd Phillip's Joker.

Gudnadóttir is also nominated for the BAFTA Awards for the Joker score and the Oscars in 2020. The BAFTA Award ceremony will take place February 2 and the Oscars a week later, February 9.

The HBO series Chernobyl chronicles the 1986 Chernobyl Nuclear Plant disaster and its aftermath. Gudnadóttir visited a nuclear power plant in Lithuania, where much of the filming took place, and made live recordings of its atmospheric sounds to capture the experience of Chernobyl.
