Hildur Gudnadóttir's score to JOKER advances in the run for a Oscar nomination

Icelandic composer Hildur Gudnadóttir's score to Todd Phillip's Joker is among fifteen original scores shortlisted for the Oscars 2020. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science will announce the nominations on January 13 and the Oscars will be handed out February 9. 

Recently, Gudnadóttir received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score for Joker and a nomination for Best Score at the 25th Annual Critics' Choice Awards . Gudnadóttir started creating the music to Joker just after reading the script which according to Joaquin Phoenix, the lead actor of the film, helped set the tone and became a key motivator during the process of evolving the character in Joker.

Gudnadóttir has received an Emmy award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series for her score to the critically-acclaimed drama series Chernobyl, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for the Chernobyl series.

Gudnadóttir is also known for her score in the films Sicario: Day of the Soldat from 2018, Tom of Finland from 2017, the Icelandic feature The Oath from 2016 and the Icelandic TV series Trapped from 2015. Recently, Gudnadóttir was invited to become a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for her contribution to theatrical motion pictures.
