Ingvar Sigurdsson nominated for European Film Awards

The Icelandic actor Ingvar Sigurdsson has been nominated for Best Actor at the European Film Awards for his performance in Hlynur Pálmason's A White, White Day. This year's awards ceremony will be held in Berlin on December 7.

Sigurdsson has already won three awards for this performance. At Cannes Critics' Week, where A White, White Day had its world premiere, he won the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award. At the Transilvania International Film Festival, he won the Best Performance Award. And at the Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montreal, he won for Best Actor in a Feature Film. Sigurdsson's performance has also been highly praised in Cineuropa, Screen International, and The Hollywood Reporter.

To date A White, White Day has won a total of nine international awards and is Iceland's entry for the 2020 Best International Feature Film Oscar.

In 2020, the European Film Awards will be held in Reykjavík.
