La Chana nominated for Best European Documentary at European Film Awards

La Chana, the Spanish/Icelandic/American documentary by Lucija Stojevic, has been nominated for Best European Documentary at this year‘s European Film Awards. The film is one of five documentaries nominated. The award ceremony will be held on December 9 in Berlin.

La Chana is coproduced by Gréta Ólafsdóttir and Susan Muska for Bless Bless Productions.

La Chana has been on an impressive festival run since having its world premiere at the IDFA festival in Amsterdam, where it won the audience award. It has screened at Hot Docs in Toronto, Sheffield Doc/Fest and RIFF in Iceland, to name but a few.

Synopsis: La Chana, a hugely successful flamenco dancer, suddenly vanished from the public
eye at the height of her fame. As she prepares for one final comeback performance, she retraces the highs and lows of her career and why it came to such an abrupt end. An intimate portrait of a dynamic, eccentric woman who elevated flamenco to a higher art form.

Further information about the film is available at the film‘s official website, New York Women in Film and Television and the Icelandic Film Database.
