Many Icelandic films to be screened at the Göteborg Film Festival – HEARTSTONE and PRISONERS in competition

A total of 6 Icelandic films will screen at the Göteborg Film Festival, which will take place from January 27 through February 6. The films that will be screened are features Heartstone, Rift and The Together Project, TV series Prisoners and short films Cubs and Lightage.

Heartstone will be in competition for the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film, the festival‘s top prize. The award includes a 1 million SEK prize, which is among the highest prize money in the world when it comes to film festivals. Heartstone will compete against 7 other nordic films for the award.

TV series Prisoners from director Ragnar Bragason will screen in the TV drama section of the Nordic Light program and will compete with four other Nordic TV series for the Nordic Film & TV Fund Prize for Best TV Script.

Rift, a new feature horror drama by Erlingur Thoroddsen will be the closing film of the festival and and will screen in the Nordic Light program. The Together Project, the French/Icelandic coproduction by the late Sólveig Anspach, will also screen in the Nordic Light program.

Short films Cubs by Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir and Lightage by Gudmundur Gardarsson will screen in the short film section of the Nordic Light program.
