Mihkel and Let me Fall screened at Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival

The films Mihkel by Ari Alexander Ergis Magnússon and Let me Fall by Baldvin Z are screened at Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival May 25 – June 2. The films are in the Scandinavian Panorama category among other six films. The festival was established in 1970 and is one of the most well know film festival in Eastern Europe.

In the film Mihkel - Mihkel and Igor dream of moving from their home in Estonia to the land of opportunity and justice, beautiful Iceland. Events take an unexpected turn and Mihkel dies a horrible death, betrayed by his oldest friend, his Russian brother Igor. It is a story of Biblical betrayal, reenacted in a dark, real-life tragedy as Igor, a modern-day Judas, sells Mihkel out for material gain.

 

Mihkel was written and directed by Ari Alexander Ergis Magnússon. It was produced by Fridrik Thór Fridriksson, Kristinn Thordarson, Leifur B. Dagfinnsson and Ari Alexander Ergis Magnússon and coproduced by Estonians Evelin Soosar-Penttilä and Riina Sildos, Norwegian Egil Ødegård, and Icelanders Jörundur Rafn Arnarson and Jóhann G. Jóhannsson. Main actors are Pääru Oja, Kaspar Velberg, Atli Rafn Sigurðarson og Tómas Lemarquis.

The film Let me Fall by Baldvin Z is about when 15-year-old Magnea meets Stella, everything changes. Stella’s no-holds-barred lifestyle drags them both into a world of drugs, which brings serious consequences for each of them, and their relationship. Twelve years later their paths cross again, and a reckoning between them becomes unavoidable.

The film is produced by Júlíus Kemp and Ingvar Þórðarson and coproduced b Markus Selin, Jukka Helle and Sophie Mahlo. Main actors are Elín Sif Halldórsdóttir, Eyrún Björk Jakobsdóttir, Þorsteinn Bachmann, Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir og Lára Jóhanna Jónsdóttir.
