PRISONERS nominated for Prix Europa award

Icelandic TV series Prisoners has been nominated for a Prix Europa award, for Best TV Fiction. A total of 24 TV series from 17 European countries are nominated for the prestigious award this year. The award ceremony will take place on October 20 in Berlin.

Last year, Trapped became the first Icelandic TV series to win the award.

Prisoners is directed by Ragnar Bragason and written by Bragason along with Margrét Örnólfsdóttir and Jóhann Ævar Grímsson, based on an idea by Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir and Unnur Ösp Stefánsdóttir. It is produced by Davíd Óskar Ólafsson and Árni Filippusson on behalf of Mystery Productions.

After a lifetime of mistakes, Linda is sentenced to Iceland's only women's prison for a vicious assault that leaves her father in a coma. But no one knows that she harbors a dark secret that could tear her family apart - and set her free.
