RIFF is now running

The Reykjavík International Film Festival, RIFF, is now in its 16th year and is running from September 26 through October 6. The festival‘s guests of honor are director Claire Denis and producer Katja Adomeit.

The Icelandic/Irish/USA film End of Sentence by Elfar Adalsteins was the opening film this year starring Oscar nominee John Hawkes, Logan Lerman and Sarah Bolger. Both Adalsteins and Hawkes attended the opening of the festival.

The Icelandic documentary, The Last Autumn by Yrsa Roca Fannberg, will have its Nordic premiere on September 30 at 19:00 in the New Visions section of the festival. After the screening there will be a Q&A with the director, Yrsa Roca Fannberg, and the producer Hanna Björk Valsdóttir.

A vast number of Icelandic short films will screen in the Icelandic Shorts section, including Dovetail by Magnús Leifsson and Paperboy by Ninna Pálmadóttir. The first two episodes of the Icelandic TV series Happily Never After by Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir will have their world premiere in the Icelandic Panorama section and the documentaries The Seer and the Unseen by Sara Dosa and The Last Tour by Ólafur Sveinsson will also screen in the Icelandic Panorama section.
