SMOKE SAUNA SISTERHOOD nominated for European Film Awards

Anna Hints' documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood (Savvusanna sõsarad) has been nominated for the 2023 European Film Awards. The awards will be presented on December 9.

The film is a co-production between Estonia, France, and Iceland, supported by the Icelandic Film Centre. It follows women women who share their innermost secrets and intimate experiences. Through a sense of communion, women wash off the shame trapped in their bodies and regain their strength.

Other nominated documentaries include Apolonia, Apolonia, directed by Lea Glob, Four Daughters (Les Filles d'Olfa), directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, Motherland, directed by Hanna Badziaka and Alexanders Mihalkovich, and On the Adamant (Sur l'Adamant), directed by Nicolas Philibert.

Smoke Sauna Sisterhood has received numerous awards since its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. It is Estonia's submission for the 2024 Academy Awards.
