SUMMER CHILDREN wins INIS Award at FIFEM

Summer Children, the debut feature from writer/director Gudrún Ragnarsdóttir, won the INIS Award at FIFEM - Montreal International Children's Film Festival in Canada. This is the film‘s first international award. It recently won the Children and Youth Award at the Icelandic Edda Awards.

The film had its international premiere at the prestigious Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia last November, where it was well received.

Summer Children has received positive reviews from local media outlets and Screen International.

The film screened at the Scandinavian Film Festival LA in January and is now screening at Kosmorama – Trondheim International Film Festival in Norway. Next up for the film is Titanic Budapest International Film Festival in Hungary. In May it will premiere in Norwegian cinemas.

In Summer Children, siblings Eydís and Kári are only five and six years old when their parents' marriage breaks apart. Following the divorce they are sent temporarily to a children's home in the countryside. But when the stay turns out to be longer than they had expected, Eydís and Kári take matters into their own hands.

The film is written and directed by Gudrún Ragnarsdóttir. It is produced by Anna María Karlsdóttir and Hrönn Kristinsdóttir for Iceland's Ljósband and coproduced by Egil Ødegård for the Norwegian production company Filmhuset Fiction.
