The Icelandic Edda Awards 2020 - AGNES JOY and A WHITE, WHITE DAY won six Eddas each

The Icelandic Edda Awards in 2020 took place last night, October 6, with a special television program broadcasted by RÚV - The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service. 

Agnes Joy won the Edda Award for Feature Film of the Year. The film won a total of 6 Eddas at the ceremony, including Screenplay of the Year, Best Actress in a Leading Role (Katla Margrét Thorgeirsdóttir), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Björn Hlynur Haraldsson), Best Editing and Best Sound.

A White, White Day also won 6 Eddas, including Director of the Year (Hlynur Pálmason), Best Actor in a Leading Role (Ingvar Sigurdsson), Best Actress in a supporting role (Ída Mekkín Hlynsdóttir), Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Production Design.

Paperboy won the Edda Award for Short Film of the Year and Vasulka Effect recieved the Edda Award for Documentary of the Year.

The award ceremony was scheduled to take place on March 20 but due to Covid-19 and gathering limits the ceremony was postponed until further notice. On March 6, selection committees announced which films and TV shows, series and programs are nominated for the Edda Awards for the year 2020, followed by academy members choosing the winners.
