THE VASULKA EFFECT selected for DOC NYC

Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdótttir's The Vasulka Effect has been selected for the DOC NYC festival which takes place online from November 11 - 19. The story of Steina and Woody Vasulka began in New York where they started their career in video art and founded the visual arts space The Kitchen.

The Vasulka Effect tells the story of Steina and Woody Vasulka, pioneers of video art, who began experimenting with video in the 1960s. Forgotten by the art world, we find them in the process of archiving their work and struggling to make ends meet. Through their journey we begin to understand the major impact video has had on art and society from the 1960s until the present day.

Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir is the director of the film and producer is Margrét Jónasdóttir for Sagafilm. Coproducers are Radim Procházka for Produkce Radim Procházka, Simon Klose for Nonami, and Vibeke Vogel for Bullitt Film.
