Woman at War and Arctic among 20 stand-out titles at Cannes in Screen International selection

Screen International has selected a few of the stand-out titles from the Competition, Out of Competition, Un Certain Regard, Special Screenings, Directors' Fortnight and Critic's Week sections.

Those titles include Woman at War, the second feature from Icelandic writer/director Benedikt Erlingsson and Arctica new American drama coproduced by Lilja Ósk Snorradóttir, Snorri Thórisson, and Einar Sveinn Thórdarson for Icelandic production company Pegasus Pictures.

Woman at War, will have its world premiere at the International Critics' Week, one of the parallel sections of the Cannes Film Festival. Critics' Week will take place May 9 – 17. 

The film followsHalla, an independent woman in her late 40s, declares war on the local aluminium industry. She'll risk anything to protect the Icelandic highlands, until an orphan unexpectedly enters her life.

Arctic has been selected for the Cannes Film Festival's Midnight Screenings section, which is part of the festival's official selection. 

Arctic is about a man who is stranded in the Arctic and awaiting rescue. After a tragic accident the opportunity for rescue is lost, and the man must decide whether to remain in the relative safety of his camp or embark on a deadly trek through the unknown in order to save himself.
