Gunnar Þórðarson is known for a variety of popular music, ranging from songs inspired by The Beatles to disco music. Towards the end of his career he turned his attention to classical music, culminating in the opera Ragnheiður which turned out to be a resouncing success no less than his evergreen popular songs.
