AGAINST THE ICE premieres at Berlinale Special Gala
The Icelandic feature, Against the Ice by Peter Flinth, will have its premiere in the Berlinale Special Gala section of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. The festival takes place from February 10 – 20.
Against the Ice was produced by Baltasar Kormákur at the Icelandic production company RVK Studios for Netflix, in cooperation with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The film was mostly shot in Iceland and is based on real events in 1909, two explorers fight to survive after they're left behind while on a Denmark expedition in ice-covered Greenland.
Against the Ice stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Joe Cole. Other cast members are Charles Dance, Heida Reed and Gísli Örn Gardarsson. Music is by Volker Bertelmann and sound designer was Kjartan Kjartansson. The music was recorded by the Icelandic orchestra Sinfonia Nord in Akureyri, Iceland, along with Hymnodia. The film was edited by the Danish Morten Höjbjerg and post-production took place in Iceland, in cooperation with Trickshot.
