World premiere of BLACKPORT at Series Mania

The Icelandic TV series Blackport will have its world premiere in the international competition at Series Mania, which takes place from August 26 - September 2 in Lille, France. Episodes 1 and 2 will be screened on Saturday, August 28 and on Sunday, August 29.

Colombia has cocaine. Africa has gold. Iceland has fish. These resources are owned by a handful of people in each country. The question of how this came to be in Iceland provides the foundation for this series, which is inspired by real events.

Blackport is directed by Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Gísli Örn Gardarsson and María Reyndal, and written by Mikael Torfason, Gardarsson and Haraldsson. The series is produced by Nana Alfredsdóttir, Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir, Gardarsson and Haraldsson for Vesturport, in coproduction with RÚV, ARTE France and Turbine Studios.
