BLACKPORT wins the Grand Prize at Series Mania

The Icelandic TV series Blackport won the Grand Prize in the international competition at Series Mania, which took place from August 26 - September 2 in Lille, France. 

Blackport was directed by Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Gísli Örn Gardarsson and María Reyndal, and written by Mikael Torfason, Gardarsson and Haraldsson. The series was produced by Nana Alfredsdóttir, Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir, Gardarsson and Haraldsson for Vesturport, in coproduction with RÚV, ARTE France and Turbine Studios. Blackport stars Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir, Haraldsson and Gardarsson.

Colombia has cocaine. Africa has gold. Iceland has fish. These resources are owned by a handful of people in each country. The question of how this came to be in Iceland provides the foundation for this series, which is inspired by real events.
