COP SECRET secures a platform release in North America and French-speaking territories

Icelandic feature, Cop Secret by Hannes Thór Halldórsson, has been sold to Epic Pictures for North America and Extralucid Films for France, Monaco, Luxembourg and French-speaking Belgium and Switzerland. Variety reports.

British-French production, distribution and sales company Alief is presenting the film at the upcoming Cannes Marché du Film. The film has already been sold to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Spain, the UK, Ireland, and German speaking territories.

Cop Secret breaks all the rules of what you've come to expect from the buddy-cop genre. This is an incredibly original and clever story that will take audiences on a wild action-packed ride,” said Patrick Ewald, Epic Pictures Group's president and CEO.

Cop secret is Halldórsson's debut film and follows a tough supercop who is fighting a inner struggle at the same time as he is investigating a string of bank robberies where nothing seems to have been stolen.

The film had its world premiere at Locarno Film Festival and was written by Nína Petersen, Sverrir Thór Sverrison, and Halldórsson. The film was produced by Lilja Ósk Snorradóttir for Pegasus Pictures and stars Audunn Blöndal, Egill Einarsson, Steinunn Ólína Thorsteinsdóttir, Vivian Ólafsdóttir, Sverrir Thór Sverrisson, and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson.
