European Film Awards nominee RAMS selected for Sundance
Rams, Grímur Hákonarson's award-winning feature, has been selected for the Spotlight section at the Sundance Film Festival, which will take place in Park City, Utah, from January 21 – 31.
Rams is also nominated for the European Film Award for Best European Film of the Year, along with Mustang, by Deniz Gamze Ergüven; The Lobster, by Yorgos Lanthimos; Youth, by Paolo Sorrentino; A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, by Roy Andersson; and Victoria, by Sebastian Schipper. The European Film Awards, which are curated by the European Film Academy, will take place in Berlin on December 12.
Incidentally, the director of photography for Rams, Sturla Brandth Grovlen, is also the director of photography for Victoria, a 140-minute crime drama shot in a single take.
Rams' strong festival run began at the Cannes Film Festival last May, where it won the Un Certain Regard Prize. To date the film has won 21 awards. It has been sold to more than 40 territories, with a majority of theatrical releases scheduled for the end of this year and early 2016. Rams is also Iceland's entry for the 2016 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
