Films from Iceland at Nordisk Panorama 2025

Nordisk Panorama takes place in Malmö, Sweden, 18–23 September. Five Icelandic short and documentary films will be screened at this year's festival, in addition to four projects being presented in the Forum section. This will be the 36th edition of Nordisk Panorama. The festival is one of the leading events of its kind in the Nordic region and exclusively showcases films by Nordic filmmakers.

The Ground Beneath Our Feet, the latest film by Yrsa Roca Fannberg, is nominated for Best Nordic Documentary. The film's producer, Hanna Björk Valsdóttir, is also nominated for the festival's producer award, the Nordic Documentary Producer Award.

O, by Rúnar Rúnarsson, and Sara, by Steiní Kristinsson, are nominated for Best Nordic Short Film.

In the New Nordic Voice category, the short film Sense, directed by Annalísa Hermannsdóttir, is nominated, and Rúnar Ingi Einarsson's short film Signal is nominated in the Young Nordic Award category.


Nordisk Panorama Forum

In the Forum section of the festival, filmmakers have the opportunity to present their ideas to a wide range of key players from television broadcasters, film institutes, and film funds, with the aim of securing financing for their projects.

The Icelandic projects to be presented there are:

  • Trapped in Ice, by Alexia Muinos Ruiz and Lea Ævars,
  • Ukulellur, by Elísabet Thoroddsen,
  • LÝRIKK, by Haukur M. Hrafnsson and Ásta Júlía Guðjónsdóttir,
  • ISLANDER, by Nikolai Galitzine.

Nordic Short Film Pitch

In the market section of the festival, the short film projects Circle of Water, directed by Þóra Hilmarsdóttir, and Animal, directed by Ari Allansson, will be presented under the banner of Nordic Short Film Pitch.

The aim of Nordic Short Film Pitch is to connect Nordic short filmmakers, enabling them to strengthen their networks and increase opportunities for further collaboration and co-production.
