Films from Iceland at the Göteborg Film Festival – Ninna Pálmadóttir's SOLITUDE in competition

Four films from Iceland, including two co-productions, have been selected for the Göteborg Film Festival 2024. The festival takes place from January 26th to February 4th.

Solitude, directed by Ninna Pálmadóttir, is in competition in the category of Nordic Films at the festival, and Cold, directed by Erlingur Thoroddsen, is screened in the Nordic Light section. Solitude premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall. Kuldi premiered in Iceland in September.

Eternal, directed by Ulaa Salim, is also in the Nordic competition of the festival. The film, an epic science-fiction romance, is a Danish-Icelandic co-production, from producers Daniel Mühlendorph of Hyæne Film and Grímar Jónsson and Tjörvi Þórsson of Netop Films.

Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, a documentary by Anna Hints, is then shown in the Voyage section of the festival. The film is a co-production between Estonia, France, and Iceland. It has been screened at many of the world's leading film festivals and recently won Best Documentary at the European Film Awards.
