GODLAND wins three Bodil Awards

Godland, by Icelandic filmmaker Hlynur Pálmason, won the most awards at the Bodil Awards ceremony held in Denmark on Saturday. The Bodil Awards are given annually by the Danish film critics' association to honor achievements in Danish and international film making.

The film was nominated in five categories, and brought home three statues. Elliott Crosset Hove received an award for best performance in a leading role, Ingvar Sigurdsson received an award for best performance in a supporting role, and Maria von Hausswolff received an award for best cinematography.

Ída Mekkín Hlynsdóttir was nominated for best supporting actress, and the film was also nominated for best Danish film.

Godland is Hlynur Pálmason's third feature-length film. It has won numerous awards since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022 in the Un Certain Regard selection. It was selected as the best film at international film festivals in Chicago, Riga in Latvia, and Lübeck in Germany. It also received a special recognition from the jury at the BFI London Film Festival, and Ingvar Sigurdsson was named best actor at the Festival de Cine in Gáldar, Spain.

The film was recently released in Iceland and received a total of 11 nominations at the Edda Awards , where Hlynur Pálmason and Maria von Hausswolff took home awards for best direction and cinematography, respectively.
