HEARTSTONE makes selection list for European Film Awards – LA CHANA also recommended for nomination

Heartstone, writer/director Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson‘s award-winning feature, is among the 51 feature films recommended for nomination for the European Film Awards. La Chana, a Spanish/Icelandic/American documentary, is among the 15 documentaries recommended for nomination for the European Film Awards.

All nominations will be announced at the Sevilla European Film Festival in Spain on November 4, with the 30th European Film Awards taking place in Berlin on December 9.

Heartstone has had a strong festival run, winning a total of 37 international awards at festivals around the world since premiering in the Venice Days section of the Venice Film Festival in August 2016.

La Chana, coproduced by Gréta Ólafsdóttir and Susan Muska for Bless Bless Productions, had its world premiere in November 2016 at the IDFA festival in Amsterdam, where it won the Audience Award for Best Film. It has since traveled the festival circuit, including DOK Leipzig in Germany and Hot Docs in Toronto.

Finnish feature Tom of Finland, coproduced by Ingvar Thordarson, is also among the 51 feature films recommended for nomination. Hildur Gudnadóttir is one of the film‘s composer and actor Thorsteinn Bachmann plays a supporting role.
