Högni Egilsson earns HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award nomination for TOUCH
Icelandic composer Högni Egilsson is nominated for the HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award.
He is nominated for his score in the feature filmTouch, directed by Baltasar Kormákur. The film tells the story of Kristófer, a retired seventy-year-old widower. He embarks on a journey after the global pandemic has struck, hoping to find out what happened to his girlfriend who disappeared without a trace 50 years earlier. His journey takes him across half the globe, all the way to Japan.
The jury's statement notes that the respect and care that Högni's music shows for the narrative makes it an integral part of the film: „A seamless addition to the storytelling.“
The Icelandic jury is composed of Margrét Örnólfsdóttir, Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, Hilmar Oddsson, and Pétur S. Jónsson.
Alongside Högni, film composers Christian Balvig (Denmark), Ilari Heinilä (Finland), Henrik Lörstad (Denmark), Kåre Christoffer Vestrheim, Andréa Louise Horstad, Kristoffer Lo, and Eivind Helgerød (Norway) are also nominated for the award.
Icelandic composer Eðvarð Egilsson won the award last year for the score to the documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood.
The award ceremony will take place on February 15th during this year's Nordic Film Music Days in Berlin.
