Icelandic cinema well represented at Gimli International Film Festival
Six Icelandic films will be screened at the Gimli International Film Festival in Manitoba, Canada. The festival takes place at the end of July.
The films being shown are When the Light Breaks, directed by Rúnar Rúnarsson; Touch, directed by Baltasar Kormákur; Odd Fish, directed by Snævar Sölvason; and Skinny Love, directed by Sigurdur Anton. Two documentaries will also be featured: The Ground Beneath Our Feet, directed by Yrsa Roca Fannberg, and Tight Lines, directed by Gagga Jónsdóttir.
The Gimli Film Festival was established in 2001. Icelandic cinema has long held a prominent place at the festival, due to the strong ties between Iceland and Manitoba, which is home to a large community of people of Icelandic descent.
