Icelandic films at Nordic Film Days in Lübeck – Fridrik Thor Fridrikson receives honorary award

A total of 5 Icelandic films and coproductions will be in competition at Nordic Film Days in Lübeck, Germany. Moreover, a number of projects from Iceland and coproductions will be screened at the festival, which takes place from November 2 - 6.

The festival will honour Icelandic director Fridrik Thor Fridriksson with its Homage section. The filmmaker will be on hand on the opening night, November 2, to personally accept his honorary award. 

„Fridrik has left his stamp on new Icelandic cinema like no other. Almost all of his films have screened at the Nordic Film Days and over the years, he has won three prizes in various sections of the festival. We are pleased and proud to welcome him back to Lübeck for this honorary award,“ says Thomas Hailer, artistic director of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck.

The Homage will present a selection of five films by the director at the festival. 

The Icelandic films screening this year at Nordische Filmtage Lübeck are as follows. The list includes a film by Icelandic musician Ólafur Arnalds and German director Torsten Posselt, which is screened in a new section of the festival, called Immersion 360°:
