Icelandic films at Nordic Film Days Lübeck

Nordic Film Days in Lübeck Germany will launch its 65th edition in early November. The festival has long been an important platform dedicated to filmmaking in the Nordic countries, and this year it will feature a wide range of films and television works from Iceland.

Solitude (Tilverur), directed by Ninna Pálmadóttir, will be shown in the feature film category at the festival. In addition, three Icelandic short films are on the festival's schedule. 



Fár, by Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter, and Hide by Margrét Seema Takyar, will be shown in the Nordic Shorts section of the festival, and the short film Felt Cute (Sætur) by Anna Karín Lárusdóttir is part of the Children's and Youth Films program.

The TV series Descendants (Heima er best), directed by Tinna Hrafnsdóttir, will have its world premiere at the festival. Additionally, the series Balls (Afturelding), directed by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson, will also be shown in in the Series program.

Furthermore, Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, a documentary by Estonian filmmaker Anna Hints will be screened in the documentary category of the festival. The film is partly produced in Iceland and has gained significant success since its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The Nordic Film Days Lübeck will take place from November 1st to 5th, 2023.
