Icelandic projects showcased at Göteborg Film Festival's Nordic Film Market and TV Drama Vision

Icelandic filmmakers and producers will present upcoming film and TV projects at the Göteborg Film Festival's Nordic Film Market (January 29–31) and TV Drama Vision (January 28–29).

Hlynur Pálmason's follow up to Cannes favourite Godland, a vignette-driven family drama called The Love That Remains , will be showcased in the Works in Progress section. The film tenderly captures a year in the life of a family as parents navigate their separation. Through both playful and heartfelt moments, the film portrays the bittersweet essence of faded love and shared memories amidst the changing seasons.

The Love That Remains is produced by Anton Máni Svansson (STILL VIVID) and Katrin Pors (Snowglobe). New Europe handles international sales.

At the Discovery Co-production Platform, Whale by Helga Rakel Rafnsdóttir will be presented towards sales agents, distributors and co-producers. The film follows a renowned visual artist while his life is turned upside down after a surreal encounter leaves him mysteriously pregnant, forcing him to confront his vulnerability and identity in a groundbreaking performance at the Venice Biennale.

Whale is produced by Heather Millard (Compass Films).

The Nordic Screenings section will also highlight Icelandic hybrid documentary Storm Alerts by Bergur Bernburg. The film, which will have its world premiere at the upcoming International Film Festival Rotterdam, is a portrait of Dr. Marteinn Helgi Sigurðsson, a gifted Icelandic academic living in Copenhagen, who finds himself at a crossroads when he is diagnosed with mental illness. Declining conventional methods, to deal with his mental state, he decides instead to embrace his episodical madness.

Storm Alerts is produced by Friðrik Þór Friðriksson, Magnús Árni Skúlason, Margrét Jónasdóttir, and Bergur Bernburg.

In addition, Mattias J. Skoglund's film The Home  will have screenings in the section. The film is co-produced by Heather Millard from Icelandic production company Compass Films, and has received funding from the Icelandic Film Centre.

Göteborg Film Festival's robust TV Drama Vision will also showcase Icelandic series, Reykjavík Fusion, Everybody Loves Horses, and Manifesto.
