MY YEAR OF DICKS receives a Special Jury Recognition at SXSW Film Festival

The animated series My Year of Dicks, directed by the Icelander Sara Gunnarsdóttir, received a Special Jury Recognition for Unique Vision in Writing and Directing at SXSW Film Festival (or South by Southwest). The series had its world premiere in the Episodic Pilot Competition. The festival is now running, from March 11 - 20, in Austin, Texas.

My Year of Dicks was written by Pamela Ribon and will premiere in Iceland at the Stockfish Film Festival, which will take place from March 24 - April 3. Sara Gunnarsdóttir and Pamela Ribon will be available for Q&A after the premiere and they will also take part in the panel Scriptwriting in the Modern Age at Stockfish's Industry Program.

In the jury's reasoning for the Special Jury Recognition it says: “For its thoughtful curation of imagery combined with a funny and inventive script, the Special Jury Recognition for Unique Vision in Writing and Directing goes to Pamela Ribbon and Sara Gunnarsdóttir for My Year of Dicks. Their bold voices overlap to make for an experience of feminine youth and sexual exploration that is both relatable and entirely its own.”
