RIFF – Reykjavík International Film Festival – begins on September 29

RIFF – Reykjavík International Film Festival – will launch its 19th edition on Thursday, September 29th, with the premiere of the Austrian film Vera, by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel. 

Spanish filmmaking will be in focus this year, with screenings of Pacification by Albert Serra and Alcarràs by Carla Simón. Other noteworthy films include Corsage by Marie Kreutzer, Pornomelancholia by Manuel Abramovich, and Fire of Love by Sara Dosa.

The festival concludes with the world premiere of Summerlight, and then comes the night, by Icelandic filmmaker Elfar Adalsteins. The film is based on a novel by Jón Kalman Stefánsson.

A wide selection of documentaries and shorts by Icelandic film makers will be screened in the Icelandic Panorama section, Atomy by Logi Hilmarsson, and King of the Butterflies by Olaf de Fleur, to name a few.
