Rúnar Rúnarsson's O named Best Short Film at Vilnius International Film Festival

The short film O, by Rúnar Rúnarsson, won awards at two film festivals over the weekend.

At the international film festival in Vilnius, Lithuania, the film was selected as the best short film in its category. In the jury's statement, it was noted:

We have been fortunate enough to watch a film that touched us profoundly and stayed with us for a long time after. We considered this film to be an achievement of classical cinematic language and a deep descent into the circles of addiction.

The film also received the film critics' award at the REGARD short film festival in Saguenay, Québec, Canada.

O premiered at the Venice Film Festival last fall and has since travelled between esteemed international film festivals. The short film has now won six international awards, and it has also been shortlisted for the 2025 European Film Awards.
