SMOKE SAUNA SISTERHOOD wins Best Documentary at European Film Awards

Anna Hint's documentary, Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, won the best documentary award at the European Film Awards. The award ceremony took place in Berlin, Germany, December 9th.

The film is a co-production between Estonia, France, and Iceland, receiving support from the Icelandic Film Fund. Other nominated documentaries were: Apolonia, Apolonia (Denmark, Poland), Four Daughters (France, Tunisia, Germany, Saudi Arabia), On the Adamant (France, Japan) and Motherland (Sweden, Ukraine, Norway).

Hlín Jóhannesdóttir, from the Icelandic production company Ursus Parvus, is one of the film's co-producers. The music is composed by Eðvarð Egilsson and the Estonian band EETER, with Eðvarð recently nominated for the Nordic Film Composer Award for the film's music. Huldar Freyr Arnarson handled the sound design.

Smoke Sauna Sisterhood is Estonia's submission for the 2024 Oscars.
