Steinunn Ólína Thorsteinsdóttir wins best actress at FIPA

The Icelandic actress Steinunn Ólína Thorsteinsdóttir won the Fipa d'or for Best Actress in a TV Series at FIPA (Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuel) for her leading role in the series Case: Ritual of Abduction. The series' director, Baldvin Z, accepted the award on Thorsteinsdóttir's behalf.

The first two episodes of Case were screened at FIPA, which took place January 19 – 24 in the seaside town of Biarritz, France. The festival closed with a screening of the first episode of Baltasar Kormákur's crime series Trapped, which is currently showing on Iceland's state broadcaster, RÚV. Thorsteinsdóttir also plays a supporting role in Trapped.

Case, which was produced by Iceland's Sagafilm, premiered in October on Channel 2 in Iceland. Red Arrow International is handling world distribution. Case competed against ten international TV series, including the UK show River, for which Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård won the Fipa d'or for Best Actor.
