THE SHOW OF SHOWS selected for the Tribeca Film Festival

The Show of Shows: 100 Years of Vaudeville, Circuses and Carnivals, the silent documentary from Icelandic director Benedikt Erlingsson, has been selected for the Tribeca Film Festival, which will take place in New York April 13 – 24. It will screen as part of the „Special Screenings“ section on April 17, at the MoMA PS1 gallery. The festival was founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro and producer Jane Rosenthal, among others.

The Show of Shows had its world premiere and was the opening film at the Sheffield/Doc Fest in the UK last summer. It was also selected for the prestigious San Sebastián Film Festival last fall and competed for the Dragon Award in the Gothenburg Film Festival‘s documentary competition in January.

The Show of Shows was directed by Benedikt Erlingsson (Of Horses and Men) and produced by Margrét Jónasdóttir for Sagafilm, Mark Atkin and Heather Croall for Crossover LAB and Vanessa Toulmin for the National Fairground at the University of Sheffield. The musical score was written by Gerog Holm and Orri Páll Dýrason of Sigur Rós along with Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson and Kjartan Dagur Hólm. The film was edited by Davíd Alexander Corno.

The Show of Shows screened on BBC Four‘s Storyville on January 17 and was met with critical acclaim in UK newspapers. For excerpts from some of those reviews and further information about the film, visit the official website of The Show of Shows.

Last year, Dagur Kári's Virgin Mountain won three awards at the Tribeca Film Festival, including for Best Narrative Feature.
