THE SWAN premieres in Toronto – cast and crew in attendance

The Swan, writer/director Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir‘s debut feature, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, where it received a warm reception.

Key members of the film‘s cast and crew were in attendance, including Hjörleifsdóttir, lead actress Gríma Valsdóttir and actor Ingvar E. Sigurdsson. All three took part in a Q&A after the screening.

The Swan is screening in the festival‘s Discovery section, dedicated to new and upcoming filmmakers. The Toronto International Film Festival was established in 1976 and will be held for the 42nd time from September 7 - 17.

In The Swan, a wayward nine-year-old girl is sent to the countryside one summer to help out on a farm and mature, but she soon finds herself deeply entangled in a drama she can hardly grasp.

The Swan is written and directed by Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir. It is produced by Birgitta Björnsdóttir and Hlín Jóhannesdóttir for Vintage Pictures and coproduced by German production company Junafilm and Estonian production company Kopli Kinokompanii.

International sales for the film are being handled by M-Appeal (films@m-appeal.com).
