THE VASULKA EFFECT at International Film Festival Rotterdam

Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdótttir's The Vasulka Effect is now screening in the section Deep Focus at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The documentary had its first screening at the festival yesterday, January 23, and was well received.

The Vasulka Effect tells the story of Steina and Woody Vasulka, pioneers of video art, who began experimenting with video in the 1960s. Forgotten by the art world, we find them in the process of archiving their work and struggling to make ends meet. Through their journey we begin to understand the major impact video has had on art and society from the 1960s until the present day

Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir is the director of the film and producer is Margrét Jónasdóttir for Sagafilm. Coproducers are Radim Procházka for Produkce Radim Procházka, Simon Klose for Nonami og Vibeke Vogel for Bullitt Film.

Next screenings of the film at the festival are January 25 and January 31.
